week 27

In the words of Ashley… getting dressed now is ‘all about trying not to look like a tent. Or a whale. Or a house. Even though I feel like one.’ I’m so tempted to buy myself some pregnant lady clothes but that sensible internal voice keeps saying ‘but you’ll only be wearing them for 12 more weeks, last time you managed to wait it out’. Damn you sensible!

This week I’ve been feeling a bit restless, a bit up and down emotionally, helped none by restless sleep and being woken up with massively painful leg cramps in the middle of the night (lets not even mention how many bathroom breaks are required throughout the night when you’re pregnant)! And have I mentioned before how much this baby moves? What can he possibly be doing in there that requires so much activity! But I'm pretty pleased with myself for getting Paige into a good routine of tidying up her books and toys at the end of the day with the promise of watching half an hour of TV before bed, now I don’t have to bend down and pick anything up. hehe Clever mummy!

week 25

Sorry, MIA! I just couldn’t bring myself to blog last week; I’ve been so tired and super busy with renovations I needed a break from online and having to think too much about what I might be wearing. But Saturday I had a little catch up with Lauren so between the raindrops we shot some pics which was fun, she’s always so good for a laugh.

So I looked back at some blog pics to this time last pregnancy and whoa mumma, I am so much bigger this time around! Some things are hard for me to gauge because I knew about Paige a lot earlier than this pregnancy but I feel like it’s getting tough much earlier this time (I’ll never be to one to say I love being pregnant so bear with me over the next 3 months!), or maybe I’ve just forgotten?! Obviously it's not all bad; it’s so amazing to now be able to feel and see his little hands and feet pushing me, he’s pretty busy in there!

The Sili Adventures

I randomly stumbled across this blog the other day… The Sili Adventures Blog and it is literally jam packed full of amazing recipes for baby purees, blends and smoothies; 95% of what Paige eats is homemade and she’s a crazy smoothie lover…plus this is going to be an incredible source of inspiration for me when baby no.2 arrives in a few months. Check it out if you’re a baby mumma too!

feb photo a day challenge

I’m publicly declaring that I will take part in this for the entire month of Feb (not like Jan…ahem), so now I have to stick with it, no excuses. Are you doing it? What’s your instagram name?

suggestions?

If ever there were the perfect non-maternity maternity shirt, this would surely be it! I don’t even look pregnant in it and I’m pretty much half way there. Until I turn sideways in the wind! ha
Does anybody have any recommendations for good pregnancy / mummy blogs? Wouldn’t mind exploring this side of the blogsphere a little bit more at the moment.

vintage month interview

October is Vintage Month at Breakfast with Audrey and Emma is guest editing. Pretty sweet gig if I do say so myself! She and I had a little chat about vintage sellers turned bloggers, you can read the full post here.
I can't tell you how massively exciting it is for me to see re:new right there next to Gary Pepper Vintage and Red Mera Vintage!

lychee sangria me

Lychee sangria makes me very happy! Also making me happy on a Saturday afternoon was Emma (Spin Dizzy Fall), Lauren (Your Only Blackswan), Joelyne (The Sydney Girl), Jess (Jess Loves Fred), Aprilia (Aprilia Love Vintage) + Thu (Original Number).
Yes, blogging can open up a whole new world of really awesome people right on your very doorstep. And when they can all be drawn into the same place at the same time by the promise of lychee sangria… well I just know we’re all going to get along juuuuust fine!

details

I’m too pale for this shirt without a cardigan. Or maybe the shirt is too pale for me? Either way, looking through our photos my feelings for the colour changed. So here are some details instead; arm party attendees - the first completed friendship bracelet, vintage watch, pink leather band from Istanbul eons ago, some amber, hazelwood and turquoise beads (apparently good for teething babies!) and my name bracelet + birthday bag from Lauren and messy hair piled up before I even got out of bed this morning.

marooned

Lauren from Your Only Blackswan bought me this bag for my birthday. Yeah I know, you can’t really see it very well in these pics but there’s plenty of time ahead for us.

Can we just reflect on this gift for a little minute; someone I’ve only personally known (by that I mean beyond the computer screen) for just a few short months has taken the time to think of and seek out a special something that would suit me and my style perfectly. Do you know what that means? It means she’s a keeper! It also means that she has perfectly timed this addition to my wardrobe with my own addition of a massively oversized jumper I bought the other day. Well how convenient!

marmalade

So ridiculously honored to see one of my favourite bloggers, Victoria from Marmalade, wearing a vintage dress she bought from re:new. I highly recommend you take a little time to appreciate her corner of the blogsphere and if you’re anything like me, you’ll be totally drawn in by her imagination and her beautiful photography.

again

Holy crap! This week has completely gotten away from me. I had all intentions to do this post days ago but… I try not to be but I’m a totally erratic blogger!
I caught up with Emma (Spin Dizzy Fall), Lauren (Your Only Blackswan) and Thu (Original Number) last weekend for a chocolate fix, and man do I always need a chocolate fix. It was all I could do to not drink that sweet sweet melted chocolate straight from the fondue dish while the girls happily chatted away. Classy!

q+a

I did a Q+A with Robyn if you’ve got some time to kill and fancy a mini read, you might even learn something new about me...

the thrift exchange

The Thrift Exchange – a monthly thrifting exchange adventure between two bloggers on opposite sides of the world.

I’ve paired up with Robyn from Twitch Vintage to take part in a bit of thrift exchanging over the next few months. Basically we lucky dip a theme for the month, go out with a budget of $15 to thrift something within that theme, post it over to the other side of the world and then share with you our own interpretation of each other’s finds. I’m a bit excited about this; I think it’s going to be loads of fun. And I’m a big fan of Robyn’s blog so I’m super excited to be exchanging with her.

In case you’ve never met, here’s a little Q+A, I’m sure you’ll get to know each other much better over the coming months…

When you’re not blogging what do you do?
I’m a bit of a workaholic, so I spend an embarrassing amount of time in front of my laptop. However, when my boyfriend manages to drag me away it is usually to bike, drink, play in the park, peruse the flea market and hang out on front porches.

Dog or Cat?
Turtle FTW.

Any hidden talents?
I don’t know if this is a “talent”, but I am pretty awesome at falling. I am ridiculously clumsy, so I fall more than your average person. I am that person who takes a spill in public that looks so awkward that everyone around me gasps or freaks out. Then I just pop up and keep walking like nothing happened. The key is the quick recovery.

Where does ‘Twitch Vintage’ come from?
Twitch is a nickname. I wiggle my nose a lot without knowing it. In my mind I look like Samantha from Bewitched, but it’s more like a bunny smelling something bad. I have been caught doing it in many pics, and not one of them is flattering. Just go with your imagination.

What do you hide under your bed?
I had to look. I found my spare phone charger, socks, a skittles bag (empty, damn) and a broken hanger. Those were more lost than hidden though. I live with a boy, so I have better hiding spots.

Our first theme will be drawn tomorrow. Yay!
